Getting Together

More than 80 members, partners and friends got together at the end of July for our Summer BBQ by the side of The Mole.
Mike W and his team of Moleside volunteers did a great job laying the foundations for a magnificent party.

Special thanks to Alec and Carmen for making available – and putting up – their impressive protection from the strong sun, to Neil who insured a plentiful supply of locally brewed Shere Drop and to the enthusiasts of the club’s Wine Group who made sure the project budget was not broken with their excellent recommendations for our wine list and selection of softer drinks.

.A complete surprise to all of us was the arrival of the Rampant Roosters Morris troupe from Dorking – thanks to Chairman Philip for making that possible – and to the Roosters themselves, particularly for persuading a fair number of us to join their final number and work off any hint of over indulgence.

Thanks as well to Margaret for her invaluable help with the photographs to remind us all of another very enjoyable summer lunch for our club.

Throughout the year, there are other special occasions when we get together with our wives, partners and friends to mark the day with a meal
At the turn of this year our New Year Lunch at Burford Bridge gave Andrea, wife of past Chairman Paul W, the chance to remind all us members how our wives and partners are invariably delighted that their other halves are part of a strictly men’s club that always encourages our ladies to share in so much of what we do.

And our club offers many other sorts of opportunities to get together; a pub meal after our monthly club walks, a restaurant supper as part of a club Concert visit, a picnic enjoying open air music together in the evening sun, a light lunch after a morning’s golf with The Hackers.
In short we never miss giving ourselves the chance to get together.
