Celebrating The New Year

  • News

A brief break in January’s rain clouds welcomed over 70 Moleside members and our ladies to Effingham Golf Club for our New Year Lunch.  This was an occasion that had been a long time in the making.

Kris Nasta organised matters with the club and, with the asistance of David Owen, the challenges to a programme originally planned for almost a year earlier were overcome in great style.

Champagne and delicious canapes in the conservatory set the scene

For many of us, and certainly for the several new members who have joined Moleside since last summer’s lunch at Burhill, this was the first opportunity we have had to be together since all the disruptions of the pandemic.

The service of our most enjoyable lunch may have taken a little longer than our organisers had planned but that simply offered more chance for us all to catch up with everyone wherever we were in the Effingham club’s splendidly panelled dining room.

Along with the tulip centre pieces on each of our tables, for the front of our lunch’s programme Ann Nasta had created a new water colour of Moleside’s home for its monthly meetings – Cobham’s Church Gate House Centre.

We all joined in John Brice’s thanks to Ann and to Kris and David for all they had done to make our lunch so special.

In his report of recent club activities John welcomed our new members, remembered those who are sadly no longer with us and concluded with a toast to the ladies of Moleside.

Nita Rodd responded thanking John and the club for all the opportunities wives, partners and friends have to share in what we do and she proposed the toast to Moleside Probus – ‘Long May It Continue’.

Thanks to Margaret Arnott for her invaluable help with our photographs of a great Moleside occasion.

Do take a look at our Album for more photos.
