Petanque

There’s no stopping the ambition of Moleside’s most recent addition to our regular club games programme and a summer visit to the Oxshott Pétanque Club proved how enjoyable this activity can be – even when you lose.

Our hosts 7- 2 victory could be put down to their playing on their home terrain but being beaten by players with experience of local league competition can only encourage the Moleside boules regulars’ continuing to strive for the stars.

Congratulations to Bob who in partnership with Ramsay and Simon was involved in both of Moleside’s consolation wins.

Our team as a whole however was united in finding that the disappointment of losing was more than overcome by the warmth of the welcome and the hospitality we received from our victorious hosts.

Our thanks to the Oxshott Club for a very enjoyable and inspiring afternoon together.

Back home we meet once a month where we’ve been generously granted exclusive access to a Cobham sports club’s excellent terrain.

Here a number of us are finding success in the past – possibly on the beaches of France – may not have been just luck in the sunshine.

The chance of an enjoyable and very social afternoon of Pétanque gives us an opportunity for year long, therapeutic exercise helping us keep fitter; and at the same time providing the chance for an occasional competitive event with other like minded groups.

And it has been known for the Moleside team to win.

The Petanique Regiulars

Newcomers to Pétanque are always welcome – the experience of our enthusiastic regulars is here to be shared and there are always boules to spare.
